Integrated Planning Act

The Integrated Planning Act 1997 (IPA) provides the framework for Queensland’s planning and development assessment system.

IPA balances:

  • community well-being
  • economic development
  • protection of the natural environment.

The main elements of this framework are:

Reforming IPA

Later this year, IPA will be replaced by the Sustainable Planning Act 2009.

There are no changes to the existing IPA and IDAS processes until the new act commences in late 2009.
